Ball Mill is made up of feeding part, discharging part, transmission part (reducer, small transmission gear, motor, and electrical controller), gyre part and so on. Ball mill application

Ball mill is mainly used for grinding materials in cement industry, silicate product, new building materials, corhart, chemical engineering, nonferrous and black metal, mineral processing, glass and ceramic, etc. Ball mill is also used for grinding various ore and other grindable materials dry or wet. Ball mill structure features

How does a ball mill work

ball mill workBall mill is a grinder for reducing hard materials to powder. A ball mill grinds material by rotating a cylinder with steel grinding balls/ceramic balls causing the balls to fall back into the cylinder and onto the material to be ground.

The cylinder rotates at a relatively slow speed, allowing the balls to cascade through the mill base, thus grinding or dispersing the materials. The rotation is usually between 4 to 20 revolutions per minute, depending upon the diameter of the mill. The larger the diameter, the slower the rotation.

If the peripheral speed of the mill is too great, it begins to act like a centrifuge and the balls do not fall back, but stay on the perimeter of the mill. The point where the mill becomes a centrifuge is called the "Critical Speed", and ball mills usually operate at 65% to 75% of the critical speed.

Ball mills are generally used to grind material 1/4 inch and finer, down to the particle size of 20 to 75 microns. To achieve a reasonable efficiency with ball mills, they must be operated in a closed system, with oversize material continuously being recirculated back into the mill to be reduced. Various classifiers, such as screens, cyclones and air classifiers are used for classifying the discharge from ball mills.

Ball mill operation

1. Before drive ball mill, check mechanical and electrical parts, check all connecting bolts if they are loose. Check each lubrication point if it is normal and the reliable transmission, protective equipment intact, electrical instruments are sensitive.
2. Turning a week to check whether the equipment moving parts or around obstacles, and eliminate. Not allowed to stand people around the boot.
3. After check correctly, you can press the start button to start the motor and should pay attention to current changes. Ball mill consecutive start no more than two times, the first and the second compartment for more than 5 minutes. If you start the ball mill third time, you must work with electricians, fitters with the exhaustive examination.
4. After the normal operation of ball mills, we must strictly follow prescribes to supply water and ore stone. The idle time of ball grinder mill is not more than 15 minutes, so as not to bash the liner.
5. During the operation we should pay attention to observe the current, voltage, feeding, water supply. Check once every half hour and the spindle motor temperature is not greater than 60 ° С, if it happensm, take timely treatment.
6. In the absence of notification power outage, the first step is to pull down disconnecting link, then press the stop button to stop to the mining and water supply.
7. After parked, cleaning equipment and sanitation, to ensure civilized production.
